We are seeking an experienced project or program manager with a deep understanding of delivery of large scale initiatives aligned with the modern product development practices we are using.

We are in an ongoing transformation journey where you will play an important role in the successful delivery of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives in a highly autonomous and product-oriented organisation. Our organisation is very efficient when it comes to smaller efforts that mostly touch one or a few teams but we sometimes struggle to create the same level of speed, transparency and collaboration when it comes to initiatives involving many teams and departments. You will help bridge gaps between our technology-oriented and dynamic product development organisation and our traditional business units and make sure we minimise handovers and risk. You will help build a culture of collaboration, effective communication and execution, optimised for fast flow of value creation and learning.

This is part of the role
Your position requires a deep understanding of both project management, iterative product development and program management, exceptional collaboration skills, and a flexible mindset that can adapt to changing circumstances. Although you will not possess formal authority over the product development teams, your role is vital in guiding, influencing, and motivating the teams towards goal completion.

• High-level Planning and Delivery: Ensure scope, timeline and goals are defined and bring people together to collaboratively ensure risks and major issues are identified and managed. Ensure transparency and keep an ongoing dialogue with key stakeholders and teams about progress and issues.

• Break-down of large initiatives: Ensure that the initiative is decomposed into clear problem statements and outcomes that enable regular and timely delivery of value that independently brings us closer to the overall goal. Focus should be on early value creation and reduction of risk through partial delivery over big bang releases and task completion.

• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with different departments to align perspectives on best practices for product development, enhancing alignment and collaboration throughout the entire product lifecycle. Promote a shared understanding of company objectives and the methods to achieve them.

• Decision Making & Alignment: Surface risks and enable informed, timely and holistic decision making both within and outside the initiative by making relevant information and perspectives available. Ensure decisions are successfully implemented by enabling shared understanding and buy-in.

• Encourage & Enable Ownership: Lead in a way that enables all involved teams to engage and take ownership of delivering outcomes and solutions which contribute to the success of the initiative.

• Early Phase Involvement: Ensure early involvement of people who are key to success of the initiative, such as Department Heads, Engineering Managers and Product Owners across the company. This early involvement helps to enable efficient decision making and increase buy-in from the affected teams.

• Ensure Transparency:Develop and communicate high-level plans in close collaboration with leaders and stakeholders. Establish KPI’s, track and visualise overall progress.

• Third-Party Coordination:Manage dependencies on third parties effectively by ensuring that teams plan ahead and provide upfront design and specifications when necessary.
  

This is you

Extensive experience in project and program management, particularly in software or web development projects using Agile methodologies.

• Excellent knowledge of both traditional project management principles and modern iterative practices.
• Extensive experience leading programs at companies where the core product offering is based on software, typically hosted over the internet or as a mobile app.
• Technical background and interest sufficient to understand and enable high level problem solving.
• Exceptional analytical, planning, and organisational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
• Proven ability to guide and motivate teams to ensure shared objectives, goals, and commitments are met.
• Excellent communication skills, with experience interacting with both business and IT at all levels.

As a person you have strong interpersonal skills, including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building. You can inspire and influence others with excellent collaborative and relationship building skills.

You are used to working proactively and have a self-starting approach with a strong sense of responsibility. Last but not least you have a pragmatic and flexible mindset and are capable of adapting to changing circumstances and project needs.

To thrive in this role, you must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, fluent English skills, both oral and written, are required.
