As an engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be part of this dynamic environment, where we extensively utilize microservices, Java, Spring and Google Cloud Platform to create a state-of-the-art event-driven backend. Our frontend, powered by React and React Native, reflects the creative energy of our amazing design team.
But we're not just about work; we're about community too. Follow our "Life at Nordnet" Instagram for a glimpse into the vibrant culture that defines us. Our unique organizational structure offers a flat hierarchy, giving you the autonomy to shape your work and how you want to build things. With the support of our CI/CD and platform teams, we push several releases a day, making your contributions truly impactful.
We are Nordnet Engineering, microservices done right.
Our architecture is built on the latest and greatest technologies, including Java, React, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Istio, Kubernetes and Terraform. With 800 microservices, each focused on a single business capability, we can easily scale our application up or down, add new features and deploy changes quickly and safely.
We use a domain-oriented architecture to ensure that each microservice is self-contained and has a clear boundary, making it easy to develop, test and deploy independently.
Our modern cloud platform on GCP provides a secure and reliable foundation for our microservice architecture. We use zero trust security principles and a service mesh with Istio to ensure that our platform is always protected.
With our data mesh, we can easily share data in a secure and compliant way.
And with everything as code, we can automate the entire software development and deployment process.
With Github Copilot and a 17-minute time to production, we can get new features to market faster than ever before. We have done 23000 releases from January to October 2023, which is an average of 80 releases per day.
Here are just a few of the benefits of our microservice architecture.
-
Scalability.
Easily scale our application up or down to meet demand, without disrupting our existing system.
-
Resilience.
Our microservice architecture is designed to be resilient to failures. If one microservice fails, the others can continue to operate.
-
Agility.
Our microservice architecture enables us to be more agile and responsive to changing business needs. We can quickly add new features and functionality.
-
Security.
We use zero trust security principles and a service mesh with Istio to ensure that our microservices are always protected.
-
Data sharing.
Our data mesh makes it easy to share data in a secure and compliant way.
-
Automation.
With everything as code, we can automate our entire software development and deployment process.

During our Hackathons, Nordnetters explore & enhance our products and experiment with new technologies. Over the course of two days, there is freedom to create prototypes and foster an energetic & creative atmosphere. Hackathons lead to customer value as well as an engaging engineering culture.

Down below are the steps in our recruitment process and some tips and tricks along the way!Screening interview (45 min)
In the first digital meeting you will meet someone from our Talent Acquisition team. During this meeting we will focus on getting to know each other better. We will tell you more about Nordnet, our engineering department and the role you are in process for. Be ready to describe your current role and your contributions - or initiatives you’ve driven.
Cultural fit interview (75 min)
We believe in a culture built on great people. During this step you will meet two Engineering Managers that will focus on your soft skills, way of working and culture fit. It is important for us to nurture the culture that we have and that you will have the right conditions to thrive at Nordnet.
This interview is a great opportunity to highlight your achievements - as well as your failures and learnings. During this meeting you will be asked to answer questions where you will describe situations where you have shown different soft skills or have taken initiatives of some form.
Technical Interview (90-120 min)
The next step is a technical interview with two of our Software Engineers.
Depending on what role you apply for, the interview format may vary between three different approaches. A classic case interview where you don’t need to prepare anything, a home assignment or a mob-programming interview session.
HR Interview (60 min)
The final step is a HR interview together with a Talent Acquisition Partner. During this interview we will dig deeper into motivation, ambitions and leadership to make sure that we will have the right conditions for you to thrive and develop long term.
Decision & Offer
You can expect a final response from our Talent Acquisition Partner within the upcoming days. If we find that you’re the most suitable match for the role we’ll proceed with conducting a credit-, background, reference check - and drug test. Whenever these are completed and approved our TAP reaches out to you with an offer.
